Your Labor Day weekend forecast

Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Good Saturday to you! I'm WNCT 9 First Alert Meteorologist Patrick Ellis. Here's a look at your forecast for eastern North Carolina:

REST OF TODAY: Skies will stay mostly to partly sunny for the balance of the afternoon hours. We'll continue to watch the potential for a few flare up showers and storms as a stalled frontal boundary continues to play with our forecasts. Highs in the mid-upper 80s inland will feel like the lower 90s due the humidity in the atmosphere. Tonight, skies will be mostly to partly clear. An early shower or storm can't be ruled out but most stay dry. Temps will fall into the low-mid 70s with a few areas of patchy fog.

SUNDAY: Another fantastic day setting up for us across the East. Highs will max out around 90 once again under mostly to partly sunny skies. With the stalled frontal boundary in place, we'll continue to run the risk for a few showers and thunderstorms, primarily during the afternoon hours. This will not be a washout by any means, but if you find yourself under a downpour, heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds can't be ruled out.

NEXT WEEK: A slightly more unsettled forecast will return next week, with a better chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Temperatures will remain hot, with highs in the 90's. Overnight lows will drop into the 70's.

TROPICS: The tropics will remain quiet through the weekend; though we'll continue to monitor the Gulf and Caribbean for possible slow development of several tropical waves that are pushing through that region.
