Body Found In Burned Car

From the Beaufort County Sheriffs Office:

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating the discovery of a body in a vehicle that was found on fire on the side of May River Rd early this morning.

Just before 3 am this morning, officers with the Bluffton Police Department located a Honda Civic engulfed in flames on the side of May River Rd (Hwy 46) near Linden Plantation Dr. Bluffton firefighters arrived on scene and upon extinguishing the fire, located the body of a female in the driver's seat.

The vehicle did not appear to have been involved in any collision. Neither the cause of the fire nor the cause of the victim's death have been determined at this time. Positive identification of the victim is pending completion of an autopsy.

    The South and Vine Restaurant in Statesboro was damaged by fire late Tuesday night. Officials with the Statesboro Fire Department say they responded to the restaurant at 19 South Main Street around 11:25pm to find heavy smoke. Firefighters from Bulloch County and Metter fire departments were called to assist with the blaze that took four hours to put out. Officials say the DeJaVu consignment shop next door was also damaged. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
