Body Found In Burned Car

From the Beaufort County Sheriffs Office:

The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office is investigating the discovery of a body in a vehicle that was found on fire on the side of May River Rd early this morning.

Just before 3 am this morning, officers with the Bluffton Police Department located a Honda Civic engulfed in flames on the side of May River Rd (Hwy 46) near Linden Plantation Dr. Bluffton firefighters arrived on scene and upon extinguishing the fire, located the body of a female in the driver's seat.

The vehicle did not appear to have been involved in any collision. Neither the cause of the fire nor the cause of the victim's death have been determined at this time. Positive identification of the victim is pending completion of an autopsy.

The department says the device will help reduce the number of incidents associated with DUI crashes, injuries and fatalities. It credits Sergeant Charlie Powers' hard work to receiving this grant.
