Two Year Old Caught in Crossfire During Domestic Dispute

A 26-year-old man was taken into custody after he and his 2-year-old daughter were shot during a domestic dispute this morning in a west Savannah apartment.    Dominique Ford of Garden City was treated at Memorial University Medical Center along with De'Kiiyah Roper after West Chatham Precinct Officers found Ford walking away from the scene with the child.

Neither wound was life-threatening.

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police were called to the Westlake Apartments about 11:45 a.m. after reports of a shooting of a man and a child.  Investigators tell News 3, Ford had climbed out of a window with the child. He was charged with aggravated assault

Police say Ford entered the home to retrieve the gun and a struggle ensued between him and Dennaysha Roper, 21, the child's mother.

Roper was able to get the gun away from him and fired once, striking him, but Ford then picked up the child before she fired again. That's when the 2 year old was struck.

The case is still under investigation.
