OC Welch Continues Fight For Answers

1/25/13 -

Local car dealership owner, OC Welch is airing a commercial pleading with the public to offer information in the case of volunteer Isle of Hope fire fighter, Wesley Franklin.

Franklin was shot and killed outside the Deb's Pub and Grub in Sandfly last summer. And now Welch is releasing a new commercial to help bring the killer to justice.

Welch tells NEWS 3 that not only is he not giving up on his fight for justice, he's moving full-speed ahead and plans on releasing that new commercial this weekend.

One of the biggest pieces from the Wesley Franklin murder was the surveillance video from Deb's Pub and Grub, and now Welch will use it in a new commercial set to air this weekend--trying to spark some interest from the community in solving this crime.

"Somebody knows this guy, and we are asking someone to please come forward, we have over $20,000 in reward money and we just want to get an arrest, that's all."

That $20,000 is a combination of donations made to Crimestoppers and to Welch but he says until today he hasn't talked to Crimestoppers about working together. but after News 3 asked him about it---he made that important phone call.

"Hello,Crimestoppers... hi, yes this is OC Welch from OC Welch Ford, and I don't know who I need to talk to down there but I wanna let you know that we got some more money raised in this Wesley Franklin situation."

The two discussed working together on solving this case---and he says his goal is not publicity for himself--but the goal of catching a killer.

"As long as I'm alive I am going to stay with this."

And it's not just the Franklin case that concerns Welch, this week after Rebecca Foley was killed, he pledged a thousand dollars for any information leading to an arrest in her case.

He tells me that all of us need to step up and stop these crimes from continuing.
