Woman Killed While Driving Her Car in Colonial Village

SAVANNAH, GA -

It happened at the Colonial Village Apartments at Marsh Cove, off White Bluff Road.

Police received the call just before 7:30 this evening. When they arrived on scene they found the victim's red Volkswagen Beatle with the rear window shot out.

The Mobile Crime Unit was on hand to aid in the investigation.

Resident Alex Merkler was doing homework when he heard the gun shot.

It sounded like a gun or a tire blowing--I looked out the window and didn't really see anything but then one cop car pulled up and then more pulled up and I came outside and thought, 'oh man something happened.'

Police spokesperson, Julian Miller says it's an investigation that will likely take most of the evening.

"It's a death investigation, so detectives will be dotting their ‘Is' and crossing their ‘Ts'.  A lot of detail goes into it and the devil is in the details. That's why you are going to see an awful lot of trucks pulling in behind me with a lot of people looking at an awful lot of things."
