Eileen Park

Eileen Park joined WNCN News after years of working as a foreign correspondent for various international network stations. She has reported in more than a dozen countries, covering everything from military tensions between North and South Korea, to reporting undercover in Yangon, Myanmar, for the cyclone that devastated the military-run state.

After graduating cum laude at DePauw University, with top honors in both communication arts and sciences and in political science, Eileen began her journalism career with ABC News 20/20 and Primetime in New York City. There she worked on double murder trials, celebrity interviews and investigative consumer stories.

From there, Eileen flew out to Yangon, Myanmar, to report undercover on the after-effects of Cyclone Nargis for a month.

In 2011, Eileen then traveled to Willemstad, Curaçao; Beirut, Lebanon; and Dili, Timor-Leste, where she produced high-profile economic reports that were published in award-winning foreign policy magazines.

Throughout her career, she landed interviews with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, former Soviet Leader Mikhail Gorbachev and a sit-down exclusive with the youngest prime minister at the time, Curaçao's Gerrit Schotte.

Born in New York City and raised in New Jersey, Eileen loves traveling and reporting off the beaten path in developing countries around the world.

Her insatiable curiosity to know more about this world is the reason she became a journalist. She believes in journalism as a tool for public justice and the essence of her drive is captured in Joseph's Pulitzer III's quote: "We illuminate dark places and, with a deep sense of responsibility, interpret these troubled times."

After hours she enjoys relaxing with her dogs, golfing, and reading.

Thousands of motorists pass stopped school buses every day, and many of them may not even realize they are breaking the law. It's an issue that has received intense attention in North Carolina, with 13 children being hit, and killed, at bus stops since 1999. One survey on March 26 of this year recorded 429 times where a driver roared past a stopped school bus in Wake County alone. In Durham County, there were 89 violations that same day and Cumberland County had a whopping 210. Johnston Coun...
