NEW YORK (AP) - Jason Heyward hit a leadoff home run off Zack Wheeler, Julio Teheran won his third straight start and the Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets 3-2 Wednesday night to stop a three-game losing streak. Hayward connected on Wheeler's third pitch of the game for his 11th homer this season.

ATLANTA (AP) - Wil Lutz kicked a 26-yard field goal with 4 seconds left and Georgia State won for the first time as an FBS member, beating Abilene Christian 38-37 Wednesday night. Georgia State snapped a 16-game losing streak, dating to its time as an FCS program in 2012.

(AP) - There's plenty of buzz around the Atlantic Coast Conference with the addition of a new team, the latest Heisman Trophy winner and the reigning national champion. Top-ranked Florida State's run to the national title and the arrival of fast-rising Louisville have raised the ACC's national profile.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Steelers and Carolina Panthers have to set their rosters at 53 players by the end of the weekend. Backup quarterbacks Landry Jones and Joe Webb are hoping to stick around. Jones and Webb will get an extended look Thursday night when the two teams wrap up the preseason.
