Happy New Year!

We wanted to take a moment to thank everyone in the Coastal Empire and Low Country for supporting Holiday Hope…a drive designed to help parents unable to buy Christmas toys and gifts on their own. The economy really made life tougher for these families. While we are all pinching pennies we are thankful you were there for them. Thank you for thinking of others besides your families. You made Christmas 2008 a very special time filled with laughter and joy. Because of your generosity close to 4,000 children were assisted. Your gesture of kindness and goodwill will always be remembered.

We know that it takes a considerable amount of effort and time to make Holiday Hope a success.

Dear Friends,

Once again this year The Salvation Army is privileged to be able to partner with WSAV in the Holiday Hope Program. It is through generous partnerships like this that The Salvation Army is able to provide to those less fortunate in our community.

This year we are facing rough economic times and there are so many more that need help. Last year we assisted 1,361 families at Christmas. Your help is needed more than ever this year. This year our numbers are already up considerably with an additional 325 families. This translates to 4,769 children that will go without Christmas without the generous help of our community. It is with your help that enables The Salvation Army to continue Doing the Most Good for the needy of our community. You can be a part of that “Army” by donating toys the Holiday Hope Program or donating at one of our many Red Kettles in our community.

Dear Friends,

The South Carolina Salvation Army is dedicated to providing a wonderful Christmas to children-in-need and ensuring that families throughout the Low Country experience the joy of the season, in spite of the current economic downturn.

This year, nearly 500 families, with a total of 811 children, have requested assistance this holiday season...a 25% increase over last year. A much greater need is warranted this year. We hope that you’ll help us to meet each of those needs by donating a new, unwrapped toy at any of our toy drop off locations or toy drive events. Please help make this holiday special by spreading faith, hope, and joy throughout the Low Country.
