Dealing with Cancer can be a tough journey, and treatment is expensive. A huge amount of help comes from you supporting the American Cancer Society.
Your donations pay for programs like “look good, feel better.“ It helps survivors with self image and confidence while going through chemotherapy and radiation.
The ACS wants you to continue giving, but the weak economy is reason for concern. So if you’re short on money, there’s another way you can help.
“For instance we have patients that need rides to and from their treatment. So you can be a volunteer driver to help give rides back and forth for life saving treatments,” says Kylene Hartsfield, Mission Delivery Manager for the Cancer Society. The ACS doors are open for people fighting all types of cancer, and employees say they won’t let the economy kill the spirit of fundraising. “The impact of cancer is not going to go away anytime soon, and so we want to be proactive in finding more resources, more people, more donor dollars in light of the economy the way that it is. we want to continue to provide the programs, the support to the people that need it going through the cancer journey,” says Hartsfield.
The American Cancer Society provides several programs, including Look Good Feel Better, Road to Recovery, Dieticians on call, and a Patient Services Room.
A volunteer orientation will be held January 15th at the American Cancer Society.
