Homeowner Shoots at Alleged Robber
“I told him to back off, that I had a gun and we’re going to wait on the police. And he lunged at me, and grabbed the gun and pushed me in the chest and I told him if he did it again then I was going to have to shoot him. Instead of shooting him in the chest, I shot him in the leg, and he still kept coming,” Sturgess said Saturday.

Savannah-Chatham police say two men are in custody, accused of trying to break into a Savannah man’s home. It happened just after 1:30 Friday afternoon on Lovett Drive. Police found a man with a gunshot wound, and another man being held at gunpoint by the homeowner. Police say the homeowner, Bobby Sturgess, saw the suspects’ car parked his driveway. He blocked the car, took out a gun he had with him and began questioning the guy in the passenger seat.
Sturgess says that’s when another man, Darron Johnson approached him. They got into a physical struggle, and Sturgess shot Johnson in the foot. The other man identified as Arthur Clark stayed in the car, held at gunpoint until police arrived. Johnson was treated and released from the hospital. Both suspects are in custody facing attempted burglary-related charges.
Sturgess says he wishes he didn’t have to shoot but felt it was necessary.

I hope it never happens again but for future reference take the chest shot. It’s apparent that he had no regards for you.

Good job Bobby…but you had two Failures in my view.
You allowed the attacker to get his hands on you/your weapon.
You did not kill him. It’s heavy…but you must be ready before you pull your arm to finish it. Thank god Angel Dust is not as prevalent as it used to be, but a “wing” shot will not stop a nut on dope and you do not know if they are high or not. No more low percentage shots…for you or your family sake. Glad you are all right
Happy for the Lawful Citizens everywhere.
