Many retailers are offering deep discounts in order to lure folks into the stores.  Some are referring to today as black Friday number two.

News 3’s Randi Hempel headed to the mall Friday morning to see is shoppers were saving some dough.

Many typically head to the mall the day after Christmas to exchange unwanted gifts or to use those gift cards, but what about to just shop the sales?

Peggy Wells and her daughter, Mataya, got here at five.

“Why did you get here so early?”  I ask.

“We thought that there would be a big crowd so we wanted to get here before everyone else did,” says Peggy Wells who drove in from Hinesville to shop.

They got what they needed, filled the new suitcase they bought suitcase and unloaded it already.

“I needed everything to go to New York and this came very well.  We went to Macy’s and really didn’t find anything, so we went to Belk and then we found this,” Mataya Wells of Hinesville talks about her new suitcase.

The Wells’ aren’t the only ones getting to the mall early, Lindy Wilcox and her friend, Celeste Bean ladies were here by eight.

“Everyone’s seeming to call this the second black Friday, what are you noticing as you’re shopping?”  I ask the ladies.

“Too good deals you just can’t beat.  You just can’t beat it at all.  There’s everywhere you go, Old navy, if you have kids, you’ve got to go out and shop,” explains Lindy Wilcox of Savannah.

And shopping is easy; no crowds.

“It’s actually really nice, I mean it feels good.  It’s nice to get in line and check out real quick.
And everybody’s been really helpful,” adds Wells.

“How does this compare to the real black Friday?” I ask.

“A little calmer,” laughs Celeste Bean. “A little calmer today better sales today,”

“There’s just a better variety,” adds Wilcox.

“So when I got this assignment, I vowed that I was not going to buy anything.  But, after talking to all of the customers about all of the great deals they got, I had to go to the GAP.  This pair of pants was originally $49.50, marked down to $17.99 then another 25% off was taken, so I paid a little over $14 for them…not a bad day here at the mall” I add.

Some stores were even giving away coupons for when customers return on another day.  It’s just one more way they’re trying to keep people shopping.
