Some of this year’s hottest toys are green.
Many parents are looking for eco-friendly alternatives after last year’s lead paint scares.
One of the most popular picks at the recent International Toy Fair in New York is the Sprig line.
The toys are made of recycled plastic and have kinetic engines and lights, meaning they’re kid-powered.
Marlene Sundquist runs seedling toys in tampa, florida and her business is booming as parents everywhere are looking for earth friendly and safe toys.
“I think in response to last year with all the fear factor of everything being lead and toxic, people were looking for quality toys, so we have a lot of European toys, a lot of European baby gear, a lot of non-toxic and lead-free baby gear as well. We really are looking for quality products that are healthy for the parents,“ she explained.
Another global favorite are Plan Toys, a sturdy line of rubber wood toys complete with non-toxic paint and recycled packaging.
