The 183rd Savannah St. Patrick's Day parade will be on Saturday morning, March 17, 2007.

Set up in the parks and squares by parade patrons will be allowed after 3 p.m. the day before the parade. The City will allow people to stake out and place tape to designate their area in a square. After someone has staked out their area, they will be allowed to place chairs there to hold it. Areas left unattended are subject to removal.

Enjoy live music, games, food and cold, frothy beverages.

Spike TV will be on site airing the live "Major League Eating Contest: St. Patrick’s Day Chowdown" on Friday and Saturday afternoons with 8 of the world’s best competitive eaters!

Verizon Wireless is sponsoring "Get Green on River Street." Send pics and text from your phone to the number on site, and they could show up on a giant LED screen!

Entertainment on the stages includes Irish Rock, Southern Rock, Celtic, Funk, Alternative, Country, Pop and more. Other on-site activities include contests and interactives with Georgia Lottery, Geico, Great Vacation Destinations and… the Spam Mobile.

Festival hours are

  • Friday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m.;
  • Saturday, March 17, from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m.;
  • and Sunday, March 18, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Gating will take place on Friday and Saturday and a wristband must be purchased for $5 to consume alcoholic beverages outdoors on the plaza – proper ID must be shown!

  • DON'T drink alcohol in a parked vehicle
  • DON'T bring alcohol into the gated area on River Street
  • DON'T drink alcohol or have it in your hand without a wristband in the festival area.
  • DON'T think about exposing yourself or urinating in public

Police say any of the crimes above come with a maximum punishment of a $500 fine or 30 days in jail.
