CEMA Publishes After Action Review
Savannah, GA – April 23, 2008
The Chatham Emergency Management Agency has published on their website the After Action Report of the response to the Imperial Sugar Refinery explosion that occurred on February 7, 2008. The report addresses the lessons learned by first responders who participated in the response and recovery of the Imperial Sugar Refinery.
The final version of the After Action Report addresses the major accomplishments and challenges that the first responder community faced during the response activities and offers recommendations to further enhance response operations.
Clayton Scott, Director of CEMA stated, “The response to the Imperial Sugar Refinery was outstanding but there are always lessons that can be learned from these types of situations. The After Action Report is designed as an informational tool to capitalize on our successes and to facilitate improvements in all areas of emergency response.”
The After Action Report was created as a collaborative effort among representatives from Chatham County’s response agencies.
