One person is in jail, and between 13 and 30 Groves and Jenkins high school students are facing charges after their involvement in a planned melee which led to shots being fired in a Groves High School parking lot on Tuesday.
17-year-old Theodis Kendrell Davis, who was previously expelled from Jenkins High School, was arrested by Garden City Police last night for coming onto the Groves campus and firing at least five shots into or over a crowd of fighting Groves and Jenkins students, which broke up the fight.
He was charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of a firearm and possession of a weapon on school grounds.
Chief Lyons of the Garden City Police says Davis and 8 Jenkins students came to Groves for a planned fight with Groves basketball and football players, all over a girlfriend of two of the students.
Garden City Police continue to investigate and plan to make additional arrests over the weekend.
