The Case
Last September, Amal's Convenience Store owner Mohamed Allidina was shot and killed. The same store had been robbed twice just three months earlier. No suspects have been named or arrested in the murder. Crime & Safety Reporter Kaitlyn Pratt brings the case to light again in hopes of helping generate leads for police. |

The Facts: a timeline
June 13, 2006 Amal's Convenience Store is robbed by armed suspect at 11 a.m. June 26, 2006 Amal's Convenience Store is robbed by armed suspect at noon. June 27, 2006 WSAV Community Reporter Paul Rea brings security expert J.R. Roberts to Amal's. He gives the owners advice to make the store a tougher target for would-be crooks. September 30, 2006 Savannah-Chatham Metro Police respond to shots fired call at Amal's Convenience store at the corner of Skidaway and Bonna Bella roads, just before 1PM. Officers find store owner, Mohamed Allidina, bleeding from a gunshot wound. Allidina dies an hour later at Memorial Health University Medical Center. Police search for the suspect, described as a black male, between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a slim athletic build. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored shirt and light-colored baggy pants. Officers look for the vehicle the suspect left the scene in -- a mid-1980s or '90s metallic green Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra. Police release store surveillance video of the shooting, hoping to get tips from the community. |
