One of Savannah’s oldest and most successful neighborhood groups has a new website to help neighbors connect with services designed to help them get ahead in life.
Eastside Concerned Citizens has been fighting the good fight in Savannah for almost 30 years. They’ve banded together and tackled drugs and crime, blight and poverty.
Currently they offer job training in the medical support fields as well as free computer classes, free check ups, some dental care and a nice place for seniors to spend a few hours working on crafts or playing cards during the day.
Up until now, they’ve gotten the word out about their programs through a monthly newsletter to members and with our help through the Community Report at WSAV-TV. Now they are moving their message to the internet with a new website and e-newsletter.
ECCI President Freddie Patrick says it is a sign of the times and it also helps them preserve precious resources. “Instead of spending money that we don't have to send out newsletters too everybody we could just simply put that online. We are basically trying to move people the way the world is going and that is to technology and computers.”
For details on what they’re doing and how you can support them and take part visit www.ecci.org.in.
