from the Beaufort Police Dept.:

At approximately 11:20 p.m. on May 6, 2008 Beaufort police officers responded to a home on Monson Street in response to a report of a woman having been stabbed. When they arrived the officers found a 32-year-old woman in the roadway bleeding from the chest.

The victim identified her attacker as 45-year-old Beverly Earlene Jones, who lives nextdoor to the victim. The two had reportedly been arguing in front of the house. The disagreement became physical, and the victim was stabbed with a kitchen knife. The subject of the argument is unclear at this time.

Before she was transported to the hospital, the victim was able to point out a nearby residence that the suspect had fled to. Officers made contact with Jones there, and she was arrested without incident. Jones is being charged with Assault And Battery With Intent To Kill.
