Helping families in need become families that read!

“Reading is a child’s first subject. A parent is a child’s first teacher, and reading aloud is early childhood development.”

- Wally Amos, Literacy advocate and founder of Read It Loud! Savannah initiative

The mission of Read It Loud! Savannah is to communicate the importance and benefits of reading aloud to children, especially from birth through age five. There is overwhelming evidence that reading aloud to children is the single most important activity for building knowledge required for eventual success in reading.

Through its publicity campaign and efforts to put books in the hands of new mothers as well as families in need, Read It Loud! Savannah is working with the media as well as government, corporate, education and nonprofit partners to build a community of successful readers.
