Smoke streams behind one of six planes as it slowly peels away from the formation.
This tribute -- a traditional salute for a lost military pilot.  Those with eyes on the sky -- getting emotional.
"Tears came to my eyes, my heart thumped."
"I got chills, and almost started to cry."

Samantha Verhaydn had her own tribute, spelled out on her shirt:  Number 6.  Once a Blue Angel, now a True Angel.
"He is in the military, and I am in the delayed entry for the Marine Corp, so I pretty much feel like that's one of my brothers that went down yesterday," explains Verhaydn.

Others came to show they care, buying Blue Angel souvenirs to remember the elite pilot.
"Being a military community, we understand their loss, and we support them all the way," says Katherine Weller.

Rob Steo, with the Geico Skytypers, has performed several shows with Davis.
"It's a tragedy, there's no other way to say it."

But he, and other pilots, say this air show had to go on.
"We're going to continue, honor his memory, and show the people what the air shows are like, and they should keep coming out," says Steo.
