For the past few days, strong to severe thunderstorms have hit parts of the southeast. So far, we have missed out. But it looks like our luck could be running out later this weekend. Strong to severe storms could provide our heat relief.
Tonight, skies will go from mostly clear to partly cloudy. With west/southwest winds, we will stay very mild overnight with lows in the mid 60s to the lower 70s.
On Saturday, it's going to be hot. Afternoon highs are expected to reach the upper 80s to the lower 90s for inland areas and the lower to mid 80s closer to the coast. The atmosphere will be unstable enough that we could see a few showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. But our chances will get higher later in the day.
On Saturday night, there will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms. We're staying mild again with overnight lows in the mid 60s to the lower 70s.
Then on Sunday, this is when things could get interesting. A strong storm system is expected to move in from the west. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible over the entire viewing area, and some of these storms could be strong to severe. Even isolated tornadoes will be a possibility. Stay tuned to STORM TEAM 3 for the latest updates. And don't forget to sign up for Text Alerts.
Finally on Sunday night, drier and cooler air will return. Next week highs will be back down in the lower to mid 80s.
Have a great weekend and keep looking up!
