Jenkins Co Hard Hit by Mother's Day Storms

Severe storms in Jenkins County flipped cars and lifted houses off their foundations, cut power and trapped people in their homes.
 
The storms hit Jenkins County before 8am, while some were sleeping when it started everyone WSAV spoke to today was praying before it was over.
 
Many are without power and many more are homeless tonight.
 
Families displaced by this morning’s storms now have a place to go in Jenkins County. A shelter is now open at the senior citizen’s center in Millen just behind Jenkins County Hospital.
 
We have reports from neighbors that some people are being treated for injuries at JCH including a man suffering from broken ribs. He was thrown from his house by the storm but despite his injuries he still managed to dig his children out of the debris. The kids were unharmed.
 
That is just one of several amazing stories WSAV Community Reporter Paul Rea found while visiting hard hit neighbors in Jenkins County.
