Ken Slats is Sports Director at WSAV-TV, WSAV.com and MyTV. Slats anchors and reports on local sports throughout the year. He brings nearly two decades of sports anchoring and reporting experience to News 3 On Your Side.

As a native Cleveland, Ohioan, Ken moved to South Carolina to take his first sports anchor/reporter job at the ABC affiliate in Florence in 1992. After three years in the Southeast he moved on to the CBS affiliate in Cleveland covering the Browns, Cavs, Indians and Crunch soccer. But his passion for covering the local stories and features is what really keeps him in the business. Stops at television stations in Reno, Nevada, Rochester, New York, and Youngstown, Ohio have given him a taste of the sports world in all market sizes.

This year Ken was honored with the Associated Press Best Sports Program for his work on the Highlight Zone. In 2006 he received an Honorable Mention from the A.P. for Best Sportscast.

Ken and his wife, Kris, spend their "free" time trying to keep up with their 8-year-old daughter, Megan. Ken is also an avid golfer and huge John Daly Fan!
