    The Nevamar plant located in Hampton County will close its doors by the end of year, according to Panolam Industries International, Inc. CEO Al Kabus. Nevamar is the Panolam owned company that makes high pressure laminates and decorative coverings. The Hampton factory employs about 230 workers who will be laid off beginning in October.

    The National Weather Service (NWS)in Charleston has issued a heat advisory from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday for southeast South Carolina and Southeast Georgia. Lowcountry counties included in the advisory are Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton, and Colleton counties. The NWS expects heat index values to be around 110 degrees because of high levels of humidity.

    Construction on the Bluffton Parkway Flyover will shutdown some of Fording Island Road on Tuesday, July 29, between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. for about half and hour. The original date of closure on Monday, has been changed. The closure will be necessary in order to install a reinforcing steel cage for the drilled shaft on US 278 eastbound and Fording Island Road Extension.

    The South Carolina Highway Patrol's MAIT team is investigating a crash that killed Ebony Jenkins, 25, of St. Helena Island, and sent Joseph Smalls, 29, to the hospital with injuries. Senior Trooper Hannah Wimberly says the single vehicle collision happened at 1:00 AM at Airport Circle on US 21. The 1994 Honda Accord was traveling south, when it ran off the road, struck a utility pole, and overturned.

The City of Valparaiso, Florida, has some experience with the sound from the Air Force's F-35A at Eglin Air Force Base.

    A speeding school bus has a parent in the Lowcountry fearing for her kids' lives. The speed limit on Friendship Lane on Lady's Island is 25 mph, but Tanayia LaPointe says one bus comes by her front yard going at least 45. Her front yard also happens to be the neighborhood bus stop, just feet away from the street. Her sign that reads "Hit my kid, you won't need a lawyer" is one way she's taking the situation into her own hands.

The bench in her yard, just feet away from the road is the neighborhood bus stop. Taking matters into her own hands, she posted a homemade sign that reads "Hit my kid, you won't need a lawyer". Now she wants something done to stop this from threatening her kids' safety.

    The National Weather Service confirms that a water spout was spotted off the coast of Tybee Island on Friday morning. The Chatham Count Emergency Management agency says the island did activate its outdoor warning system and cleared the beach.At this time, weather reports do not indicated the waterspout will make landfall, but it is recommended to avoid the beach until the storm has passed.
