    The first of the F-35B Joint Strike Fighter planes arrived at the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort this week. The jet fighter is known for its STOVL, or short take-off and vertical landing capability. However, the plane is also known for its loud noise, too. The City of Valparaiso, Florida, has some experience with the sound from the Air Force's F-35A at Eglin Air Force Base.

    The streets of Beaufort and its Waterfront Park are in full spirit tonight for the 59th Annual Water Festival. It's a 10 day celebration that puts Beaufort on the map, famous for water sports and tournaments, and even a few concerts over the next several days. Saturday marked the first full day of events, which means vendors set up, crowds gathered, and activities like a raft race, children's toad fishing tournament, bocce tournament, and badminton tournament got underway.

    The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office remains on the scene of an early morning house fire in the Shell Point area outside of Beaufort. According to Burton Fire Chief Harry Rountree, fire crews were called to 1006 Cypress Street around 5:00 a.m. on Sunday.Crews arrived at the home, which was full of smoke inside. One person was transported by EMS. Chief Rountree says the one person and three pets are deceased, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

    A motor vehicle accident on Bluffton Parkway and Buck Island Road left one person injured, and shut down the Bluffton Parkway west bound around noon on Sunday. The Bluffton Township Fire Department and Beaufort County EMS were dispatched to the accident, as the injured person was taken to a local trauma center by air ambulance, according to Captain Randy Hunter with the Bluffton Township Fire Department.

They took some time on Friday to get intimately acquainted with the juicy red fruit ( often mistaken for a vegetable) Beaufort had its first ever tomato festival and they did things up right. They had food fights, bouncy houses for kids an obstacle course and ten thousand pounds of tomatoes. That's a lot of tomato soup....
