    The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of another scam where the con artist is portraying themselves as a law enforcement officer. ECSO received a report yesterday from a citizen who said they received a call from someone claiming he was a DEA Agent. The con artist advised the victim the DEA had been monitoring her phone calls, text messages, and e mails. He further advised she needed to write an apology letter about being involved in prescription medications. He told her...

    Tuesday evening the Effingham County Commission re-voted on water and sewer rates that it recently increased at their May 6th meeting. Since then customers have had to pay rates double or even triple to what they were used to seeing on their monthly bill. However, county commissioners agreed to go back to the original water base rate of $10 and sewer at $15. The usage fees will go up by 16-cents per thousand gallon. Commissioners also voted to credit customers the last two months of higher bi...

The event will be March 28, 2015 at 7 A.M., and the council expects to host 3,000 women runners. The run will highlight Savannah's historic district, starting and finishing at the Forysth Park fountain.     Armstrong State University says it will waive all mandatory student fees for active duty military starting in the fall semester of 2014. “A potential barrier to soldiers attending public institutions is the cost of mandatory fees not covered by Tuition Assistance,” said Armstrong president Dr. Linda M. Bleicken. “With this fee waiver, soldiers at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield will be able to pursue degree programs at Armstrong without additional out-of-pocket expenses.”To further exte...
